The New and Gauley rivers are national treasures that have been incorporated into the National Park Service in order to be preserved for future generations. There are very few places on earth that provide as much opportunity for adventure recreation.

Whitewater Rafting: The New River is known as the “Grand Canyon of the East” and the Gauley River on everyone’s Top Ten Whitewater Trips of the World.

Rock Climbing: A five-mile section of the rim of the New River Gorge is known as the “Endless Wall”. This is rapidly becoming the most popular climbing area in the country.

Fishing: With its headwaters in the south, the warm water of the New River provides a world-class bass fishery.

Horseback Riding and Mountain Biking: Existing trails criss-cross tens of thousands of forested acres, punctuated by incredible scenery.

For over 35 years, Appalachian Wildwaters has been defining the leading edge of professional whitewater rafting companies. Training staff to be consummate professionals is a never-ending process. In addition to technical excellence, we also expect our representatives and employees to be friendly and informative.

We have chosen to work with partners in Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Fishing and Horseback Riding for two reasons: one, these dedicated and focused partners can do a better job at their activities than we could. And, two, if we attempted to be professionals in these other outdoor activities, we would eventually lose our edge in whitewater professionalism.

Therefore, we select as partners the best in their area of expertise, and we use our infrastructure to ensure seamless coordination of all these outdoor adventures and to roll out the hospitality of our whitewater resort.
