Since 1972, we have dedicated ourselves to creating the most fulfilling experience possible. To appreciate nature is to truly touch the human spirit. In our Whitewater Merit Badge Program, your scouts can learn leadership skills, bond as a team and create a winning attitude. The scenic New River is the setting for this two-day merit badge program. Whitewater Merit Badge Program
Day One instruction is on the playful rapids of the
Upper New River
—a perfect setting for whitewater instruction in our one-person inflatable kayaks (a.k.a. ducks). Tonight we will camp at our riverside overnight spot. After a great dinner, we will discuss whitewater topics such as: Recognizing injury and illness, Safety Afloat and American Whitewater guidelines and scouting rapids.
Day Two is a trip down the
Lower New River in guided rafts. Scouts will be able to see how the river techniques learned the previous day are applied to bigger water. This trip includes all meals and two nights camping in our tents on platforms with 4-inch foam mattresses, quad occupancy (one night at our base camp and one night riverside camping).
